Jacklyn Karabaich Oil Painting While living in Belgium I received three years of classical oil painting training. When I came back to the United States, I returned to college where I majored in Fine Art. “You might think a painter needs to train their hand to paint, when in reality they train their eyes to see. This training is a lifelong, on-going process. If you really want to improve your work, you have to be brave enough to say what if, and try something new." “Oil painting is a continual learning process, and each painting has its own challenges to overcome." I am an oil painter and work most of the time from photos I have taken. I will first crop the photo for a better design, and then do a value sketch. For equipment, I use a hand held viewfinder. I will then lay-in an under painting using a mid-tone of thinned oil. All of my paint colors are mixed on the palette, and not straight from the tube. When the weather is good and I get the chance I’m out Plein Air painting. It’s a challenge to drag your equipment out into the field and find that perfect spot to paint. “It’s not what you paint, but how you paint it.” Member of: Website: www.JacklynKarabaich.com |
